Didn’t they have analog fuel injection back in the day?

I mean I know diesels use a form of it, but their form is a different beast.

Discerning when a political group’s actual goal is not good-faith participation in democracy but rather overthrow of the civic order is a vital skill in this day and age. After that, the goal becomes convincing the existing political class that this is the case.

Reform is such a group.

Yeah. The whole MO of fascism is basically going up to every well-crafted process and institution in a society, sticking a gun in their faces and demanding you get your way.

When fascism succeeds, it is because a society has put aside or forgotten its processes for dealing with barbarism.

There’s always, always exactly as many Joe Liebermans (or Manchins or Sinemas or Fettermans) to keep good things from happening.

It’s a real funny thing, the way that works out.

For a while I worked night shift maintenance at an airport, and looking out over that empty expanse of concrete and machinery at 2 AM was one of the more melancholy experiences of my life.

She is working on some electronic parts for drone. It’s a hobby of hers!

Ahh, that makes sense. Versant is there to usher the money-losing broadcast services to a gentle grave as their viewing audience dies off.

Someday they’re gonna make a documentary about the whole thing and are gonna have to reproduce the fursuit. I hope there’s good pictures.

What a blessed day. It is both Flat Fuck Friday and Screaming Skeleton by the Perimeter Fence day.

It’s one of those things that was was way less of a problem back when it was only the state that had the data.

The state has all sorts of public accountability mechanisms built in that private companies don’t have, or that are blunted to the point of uselessness by the slow-moving courts.

Fascists are useless losers who are always tripping over their dicks. The problem is that every time they do, they’re caught and helped back to their feet by some grand old institution that for generations had sworn they would stand by the public good if it were ever in danger.

Yeah, it's the "baby with a Davy Crockett" issue. He might play with his blocks and leave you alone, he might fucking nuke somebody, he might take a nap. Anyone arguing that he's not a problem is just someone he hasn't pointed the Davy Crockett at yet.

Yes! I’ve been sort of fascinated with the stories of people who just live in this world, but who aren’t themselves shadowrunners. She’s one of those folks.

The tension I’m seeing between “Admonish the sinner” and “Forgive offenses willingly”, what’s the resolution there?

I’m not religious, but my instinct is seeing sin as offense against others (which is on the victim to forgive and on you to admonish as a member of the sinner’s community)
