Another straw man. This has nothing to do with Hamas. Many people acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist group alongside Israel committing genocide. They are not mutually exclusive opinions, nor is it relevant to whether Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. I hope you have a good rest of your day.
policyflow.nz
It's so clearly a genocide. We have so many academics saying that it is a genocide, even such a reputable org like the Int'l Assoc of Genocide Scholars. The weapon of propaganda and misinformation is so dangerous it is quite sad to see it all in action; hopefully people open their eyes. [2/2]

Their argument is a straw man too. In the words of Star Wars, "The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil." [1/2]

... to join the membership of one of the mentioned organisations. Additionally, siding with academics who are knowledgeable in their field is probably a good idea! However, if you would like to dismiss clear academic evidence in favour of propaganda, that is your prerogative. [2/2]
policyflow.nz
Unfortunately, your post is what is called a "straw man". It's a logical fallacy. Many other groups are listed alongside the Int'l Assoc of Genocide Scholars that recognise it as a genocide and you have attempted to dismantle the point solely on how ... [1/2] #nzpol

The government has also continually failed to acknowledge and agree with the clear academic literature that there is a genocide occurring in Gaza. Alongside indigenous rights actively being erased domestically, Aotearoa is demonstrably falling behind the world and it is an embarrassment. [4/4]
policyflow.nz
Quite frankly, the government is falling behind the rest of the West on Palestine and Israel. Most other high-profile Western states such as the UK and Australia have stated that they will support either unconditional or conditional Palestinian statehood. We have not made these assurances.[3/4]

Despite the reality that Israel, the so-described 'peaceful country' is actively committing a genocide in Gaza, according to the UN, Amnesty Int'l, the Int'l Assoc of Genocide Scholars, Int'l Federation for Human Rights, and numerous other groups and genocide studies and int'l law scholars. [2/4]

Debbie Ngarewa-Packer in question time just now received a response from acting prime minister David Seymour saying, "a terrorist group [Hamas] invaded a peaceful country [Israel], kidnapped, raped and kept hostages and continues to use those hostages as bargaining chips."

I don’t understand how any cop let alone any human being could think effectively doing a push up on a person’s head and maintaining that stance is a good idea, the fact that this was taught to recruits for 3 years despite being picked up in 2022 is feral. #nzpol

'Potentially lethal': Police recruits taught unapproved arrest tactic for three years
Police bosses only became aware after the technique was used on parliamentary protesters.

Over 300 children, kids 13 years old or younger, in the past year being held in jail is absolutely shocking. The longest was 48 hours. The fact this goes up to 8 days in the young person category is actually disgusting. #nzpol

4000 cases of under-18s being detained in police cells in last year, new figures show
Just over 300 of them were aged 13 years old or under, the figures supplied by the police minister show.

Considering turnout, I don't think Te Pāti Māori have received this large of a majority in Tāmaki Makaurau (the electorate) since 2008 with Pita Sharples. Huge win for TPM over Labour especially coming up to the election next year. #nzpol

It's the Summary Offences (Demonstrations Near Residential Premises) Amendment Bill, essentially makes it illegal to protest outside of someone's home if the protest is about them, which is insanely stupid and with this bill it creates a clear pattern of what they're trying to do. [2/2]
policyflow.nz
Absolutely, there are some huge red flags with this bill. It's literally a blatant attack on human rights and cynically an attempt to engage in voter suppression. Did an article on this a couple weeks back. There's also another Bill not getting attention [1/2] #nzpol

one thing I've noticed is that labour and greens respond to my requests for comment consistently and well-thought out, yet none of the government parties do at all... sounds about right (they don't like talking to any media at all) 🥲

oh, even a legitimate (yet outlandish) OIA request I made didn't get an autoreply either 😭
