For decades Europe and Australia played a role in supporting the US imperialist policies. Europe is now feels the heat of those policies due to change in the US global priorities. They failed to understand the global power shift to the East and misread the US signals of change coming from US.

No serious military expert will call for Russia to try stop a Venezuela type of operation. It requires a build up in a very far region and a confrontation with the US. Russia strategy to consolidate power in surrounding regions is far more sustainable learning from Soviet era errors.
The situation in Venezuela and Russia's inability to help has exposed for many Russians exactly how weak Russia has become. Russian military bloggers are calling for an end to Putin's war so they can start the difficult process of saving their own country and rebuilding their military forces.
