I talk about Touhou sometimes
They have video games so I can only imagine a bunch of otters hanging out in voice chat

Actually wait I just had a horrific premonition that this is all foreshadowing 20.5 which will be a Nina focused game with even more genAl. I don't think it's likely but it is a possibility. Be prepared.

SSiB is still probably worse though since that one is basically structured like one massive disappointing LE arc lol. Okay I'll stop being mad and annoying now. Sorry if you actually subjected yourself to reading this thread. I will try to be more positive for the next while.

These do not need to have big, status-quo changing conclusions. Obviously Marisa is never becoming a youkai for example. But the story should at least care about the plots it presents. FS was able to do this really well with its slightly spookier tone.

Remember when Joon was scamming people? Remember when Marisa was starting to become a youkai? Remember when there were villagers practicing magic? All interesting, fun scenarios that got swept away and forgotten in an instant because we've for some reason decided that nothing is allowed to happen

I'm focusing on the current arc obviously but I have been having the same issues with LE for the past few volumes. Good chapters seem more and more infrequent. I feel like ZUN has really just slipped into writing things that feel easy and comfortable for him but that doesn't give interesting results

If this arc is going to continue for another chapter or two, then it should've just been shortened to begin with. If this arc is foreshadowing 20.5 or 21 then it shouldn't even exist. Just save that for the next game's prologue as always.

I would be fine with a slice of life touhou manga where nothing really happens, but that really isn't what LE is. It's a short form mystery manga with 'mysteries' that just fizzle out inconsequentially with the same tiny cast and limited scope again and again

Why do we need two separate chapters to show both Aya and Mamizou both doing a pointless solo investigation? Why do the characters not even care about the plot they are in? Why does the character with memory powers not say or do anything during the memory incident???

Why does Miyoi even exist. Why can't we just move on to a new manga with different characters. Why do we have to just get the least interesting versions of Aya and Mamizou over and over again ad nauseum. Was I expected to clap when the th20 characters all got worthless cameos? Who cares.

Lotus Eaters is genuinely the most frustrating manga I have ever read. Anytime I dare to get even remotely interested in an arc it delivers the most boring, repetitive follow-up imaginable. I am so baffled that people consider this to be the 'good' manga compared to FDS. Am I insane.
