Only question: how did Bennie get on a commercial flight with the cargo (and those flies?!).

Note: it's on again at

on 1 April (on 35mm).

Last night at @princecharlescinema.com I enjoyed the genius of late-period Peckinpah with a first watch of a great 35mm print of “Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia”. What a film, what nihilism, what a "Bloody Sam" ending!

Went to see “Mickey 17” last night. Invigorating to have a director given a pile of cash and clearly able to do what they want. One for the “bonkers/brilliant” category!

Final note: the music works really, really well in this film, both the soundtrack and the score. Cool essay on this very topic in the blu-ray booklet by @hauntedmeg.bsky.social.

Did “The Last Stop in Yuma County” get a theatrical release in the UK? Well, if it did, I sorry to say I missed it. @arrowvideo.bsky.social have done a stand-up job on the blu-ray though, with a load of nice extra features and in very smart release.

“The Last Stop in Yuma County”: dusty 'last town/last chance' neo-noir with great shoot out and a terrifying (he's good at that!) performance by Richard Brake. It hits all the right 70’s beats, wears its cinematic references on its sleeve and enjoys itself. Fun!

It also removes the hyperbole (the chapter on the "wilderness years" between "Days of Heaven" and "The Thin Red Line" is illuminating). It’s good at getting a broad balance of the critical highs and lows too - "Song To Song" will get it’s due one day!
