I did play airsoft against a similar-looking unit of national guard a while ago and we absolutely SMOKED them in CQB. We literally made one of them cry after pinning a few of em down in a structure, causing absolute chaos outside to distract them, then breaching through a window.

Even the old-timey European farming villages of the middle ages were densely clustered. You'd have houses practically up against each other, which maximized space for fields and crops.

It absolutely kills me how 90% of professors in the US are wailing "how could this happen?!" when they missed infinite opportunities the last 40 years to do things that would have protected them today (fight for unions, recognize grad students as peers to build collective bargaining power, etc).
