Here's a nebula (NGC 1931) in the northern sky in the constellation Auriga. The nebula surrounds a relatively young star cluster, estimated to be about 7500 light-years from Earth and about 2 million years old, relatively young in terms of the lifetime of a star. #astrophotography

Here's a video of an asteroid - (36) Atalante moving through the northern sky during a four hour period. It's about 1.3 astronomical units from us, so it appears as just a moving bright dot. In this time lapse video the asteroid travels over 300,000 km through space #astrophotography

The California Nebula is well-placed in the early winter sky for imaging. It's illuminated by the star Xi Persei, which is a very hot blue-white star about 1200 light-years away from Earth and emits a tremendous amount of ultraviolet radiation which causes the nebula to fluoresce. #astrophotography

Here's an astroimage of a young region (in astronomical terms) in the constellation Cepheus. It's about 2900 light-years away and contains stars forming from collapsing parts of the nebula. It also contains a star with one of the highest surface temperatures known. @bot.astronomy.blue signup

Here is an image of the Pac Man Nebula. It's about 9000 light-years from Earth and contains lots of interesting features including areas where new stars are being born - visible in the northern sky through a telescope, but only faintly. Photography brings out the color and detail of the object.
