I run an online archive of Star Trek production materials - Set Blueprints, LCARS, Concept Art, etc.

I also reverse engineer the missing blueprints from camera matches of the sets.

It is our hope that this reference helps in the creation of fan art and fan films.

This isn't for mass production, its for a hobby 3D printers - when you have a one-off item, casting to join two halves is just overkill.

It would be stronger then glueing as its the plastic bonded to itself.

Though for small scale mass production, casting would be a better solution.

The point of clean up and transcription is for clarity, and the diagram is clearer rotated with a single alignment for text.

Its probably not everyone's cup of tea to make this alteration, but it loses no information and doesn't negatively impact the blueprint diagram.

I know why it was done in the original - it was so that it would be a direct projection of the base diagram.

However it is harder to read if you have to repeatedly turn the sheet several different ways for the numbers and text.

Been working on transcribing the Voy Turbolift blueprint today.

However I feel like making one big change.
The diagram has the base aligned to vertical, and has text in multiple directions.

By rotating the diagram 90 deg, all the numbers and text can be placed horizontally for easier reading.

I have a interest in 3D printing and this is a technique I've not seen before.

Print half the object
Print a jig and pause the print
Place flipped half in jig
Resume print and it prints the second half straight onto the first half for full object
Remove from jig

I wouldn't be surprised if it was designed with the reuse in mind - preproduction work had already started on Voyager (and Generations).

In Generations, you can see this Voyager wall panel in front of Picard. Before this, the wall was blank.
