So far, so good, although muscle memory is a thing and I've accidentally tried to search Wikipedia for an address in Maps, as well as one "find my phone" bungle (which funnily enough does have a Wikipedia article).

A nice contrast you can throw in the face of the next person who tells you that competition by private corporations within the framework of capitalism always outperforms the slow-moving, stodgy government equivalent.

Now, think about their incentive structure and funding systems. It should be fairly obvious that both are functioning exactly as they were designed (i.e., from the owners' perspective, Netflix/Disney+/Hulu search isn't broken, it's working exactly as intended).

For this task, a cabinet full of cards with keywords printed on paper from the early 20th century can outperform a server farm running on some of the most bleeding-edge technology known to man.

I couldn't help but think of how useful and robust the search tools at a local library are. Either for finding a single title or finding a bunch of books on a certain topic. Like, even if you throw out all the digital systems, a card catalog and the various classification systems will get you far.
