They are hireable (if they ever find themselves in a position where they need to be hired at all) by virtue of being absolute god-tier game developers, despite not using reasonable coding practices from this decade.
This is not the reality of most developers getting into the industry.

Class design is not architecture.
Silksong took six years; Team Cherry did not have time limitations.
Using sensible practices intended to save time has a tangential relationship with Uncle Bob's Clean Code.

There is no limitation in game development that would stop developers from using best practices for foundational units in the system.
HollowKnight also had a goofy codebase.

The pill that is hard to swallow is that it's just DevX and not correlates to project success.

What's your experience with HotReload? I was always apprehensive of giving it a try, due to instability/state leaks concerns, just focused on keeping my compilation times manageable instead.

Probably won't help, but here's the thing: once you become decent at coding and have marketable skills, you'll find yourself in a different market altogether.
