It was debunked in 1980 that babies don’t feel pain and current studies of development suggest extreme pain especially pain that lingers causes significant neurological derailments. Additionally there are very few religious denominations that require it.

Most circumcision is done in the US for non-religious reasons. It is a brutal procedure on a sensitive area with 0 pain management because they think infant amnesia is enough. All and all religious alterations of the body should be done on consenting adults who have knowingly taken up the faith.
