I made a little animation which seems to fit @chezpanique.bsky.social's article well

Working on the next #untested note. Guess what it's about!

Left:
Vibe coded a tiny web app to extract colour palettes from movies. It works pretty well! If I re-write it from scratch, I'll post it here.

Right:
Wada Sanzo's Dictionary of Colour Combinations

(In other words: I'm fighting the urge to add more themes to Ensō – this is my way of channeling it)

OK, so... I accidentally bumped the short app version to a really high number and pushed it to AppStore Connect.

Is it bad? I feel like (knowing Apple) this is bad, and I'll learn about it really late.

1½) Now you can write
Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft and savour its every single letter, like a true steamship-loving sociopath.

Claude was eager to convince me to rewrite the entire app, but luckily I still remember that `word-break` exists.

First 1½ bug fixes just arrived:

1) dead-key input works fine now (I was too clever with preventing the user from selecting/editing text)

This has been the most common error report I've seen on TestFlight so far.

OK, we have 300(!) new sigma testers so far, and a ton of feedback, mainly regarding internationalisation (dead key input in Brazilian vs. Portuguese, then pinyin and Japanese).

(I usually test it Ensō with: EN, PL, AR, FA, PT)

This is going to be a fun rabbit hole

That said, I'm mostly happy that for a larger part of the day, people would scroll to me before reaching the doomscrolling part of the feed (6.,7.)... and perhaps met the pear-butt instead.

So far:

- I had to 4x the test group size as all slots got booked quickly
- received a ton of (largely useful) feedback from users
- the post wasn't mean to be a pitch of Ensō so many people came there without context -- luckily the mods stepped in and updated the description when I was busy

OK, I didn't expect HN front page for this post! I'll read the comments... after lunch.

(I've been very lucky with the Orange Site as people have generally been very kind, but Ensō is my favourite baby, so I'm feeling a bit anxious, ok, protective about it)

I was going to draw a tree, but I didn't know how to draw the roots

Temporary Ensō (𝜍) app icon -- honestly, if it looked better in small sizes, I'd keep it!

I'm starting to feel quite happy withe new version of Ensõ.

It's even simpler than the previous one, supports OLED friendly themes, native menus, and... the coffeeshop mode!

Calling the version sigma because it feels more Keanu than Hasselhoff. DM if you want to try it out!

The drawing reminds me a bit of Pan Twardowski (a character from Polish folklore, somewhat similar to Faust)

I think I have a doodle for this

Thinking about adding a gentle blur effect to the fading text in Ensō. Does this look good?

Ha! I was just practicing puffy jackets last night before falling asleep.

You can change the copy. I wish you could remove 90% of the little page they set up for you, because I don't need most of it.

Also, avoid kit (aka convertkit) -- their payment form just stopped working for most of the people visiting my site. (likely due to update Adblock rules)

Rootin’ tootin’ passepartoutin’

Also, I think I’ll just sign the print instead of making stamps. That doggo needs some urgent medical care
