It's going to be fun* watching the originalist crew -- the people who can justify no limits on individual ownership of ultramodern weapons of war from the text of the 2nd Amendment -- twist themselves into knots saying the post-Civil War Congress didn't really mean to bar traitors from office.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment is really straightforward. The failure to apply its provisions up to this point has had (and will continue to have) terribly corrosive consequences for what remains of democracy in the US.
