Happy 25th birthday, mifepristone!

25 years ago, the FDA approved mifepristone as a safe & effective abortion medication. Typically using a combo of mifepristone & misoprostol, medication abortions are now the most common way to end pregnancy. These meds are also used after miscarriages. (1/3)

ON THIS DAY: 60 years ago today, on July 30, 1965, President Johnson signed Medicaid and Medicare into law. These state and federal government-funded programs made it possible for people with low incomes and people ages 65 and older to get health insurance they would not otherwise have access to. Yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted to advance Republicans’ signature domestic policy bill, "defunding" Planned Parenthood and blocking millions from accessing basic care through Medicaid and other public programs. The House is now considering the Senate's version of the bill. (1/2)
