still annoyed at how the nun character got done dirty

imagine trying to make a funny skit about scotland but all the actors speak deep texan accents and you can tell that it's not that that's meant to be funny, it's that the writers didn't know enough about scotland to not get blatantly wrong accents
the fun gets drained out of it

(just thinking how in comparison I'd probably be annoyed by a Portuguese equivalent character since we don't really get much representation to begin)

Also because Italian pop culture has represented itself well enough maybe
If a kid finds mario stupid there's other Italian characters done more authentically they can latch too

I'd guess because in actual Mario game material any italianness is barely there- names, accents, mentions of pasta. They're from the mushroom kingdom more than a caricature of Italy

I think I remember they did an audiobook of their book about writing superheroes etc, and if not, they at least were a constant narrator in a documentary about their work? anyway look for this stuff it's fun to listen to these authors' voices

the climatic confrontation feeling to me like someone going "get it, it's so clever, it's an inversion of aliens" just had me rolling my eyes lol. again it's a fun flick and I get why if someone wasn't busy being annoyed by the studio fingerprints they'd enjoy it though lol

it's a competently made movie so I get why people liked it, I was just at first struggling to get invested once it started to feel very "ok here's a corporate request" and by the end was actively annoyed by it lol
