Free markets are poisonous for blue sky research and they seem to have destroyed scientific progress, especially blue sky research.

Thoughts on GPT4.5.

I am very impressed with the responses. The model feels street smart compared to previous models which basically respond like Wikipedia.

It is however, very expensive. It is a huge model and we now understand why OpenAI took so long to even release it.

LLMs and other systems like this should be able to automate thematic analysis (and literature review).
