They might have profoundly disagreed with the ruling, and found it appalling, but that's a very different thing from saying the Court itself was illegitimate. Maybe John Brown might have believed that, but not Lincoln.

There are lots of decisions I disagree with, and want to see reversed, but that's a different thing.

But you yourself do not feel morally bound by them, as a member of the polity, because the court is no valid court. And that's a very serious step.

It's totally fine to believe that you're right and everyone else is wrong.

Just not all the time.

That's fair, I respect that.

At this rate, Republicans are going to cave within the week. But the problem for them is, the Epstein discharge petition will probably pass. And then ... who the hell knows? But they're fighting it like their world depends on it.

With polls pointing to most voters blaming Trump and Republicans for the shutdown, it's dawning on Republicans in Congress, at least, that anything that makes the shutdown pain noticeably worse only hurts them.

I am definitely a John Adams not a Sam Adams. I will participate in the rebellion only when no other option remains. And I won't enjoy it.

Well, tempers flared at my lack of understanding despite repeated efforts to convince me.

My own expressed view is that while I personally believe he did, unfortunately it has not been determined by any legal or constitutional process that he did. (I wish the Senate had). Absent that, see significant downside in giving any one judge the discretion to make that determination themselves.

Well I'm certainly not going to relitigate the issue tonight. But suffice it to say that I don't think there's a legal consensus one way or the other that I brazenly ignored.

Should meant "should" as in he is not a legally elected President. I disagreed.
prchovanec.bsky.social
The assertion was made (by others) that not only is the Supreme Court illegitimate, but the sitting President is illegitimate as well because he was unqualified to be on the ballot.
prchovanec.bsky.social
The relevant argument wasn't actually about that, but about whether Trump should have been disqualified for office under the 14th Amendment.

And I may be mistaken, but I don't think the legal professional unanimously disagrees with me, either.

And I inspired you to draw a frustrated self-portrait. Look, I never told anyone that they didn't understand anything. I never used such words at all. I argued a different point of view, which may very well be flawed, but is honestly how I see it.
