Warning for coeliacs travelling with Virgin Atlantic - gluten free meals are gone - replaced with *drum roll* meals containing traces of gluten! 🤡

On the same page, they claim to 'offer delicious meals to suit...gluten-free'.

Christina Rossetti would have been pleased, I think. Here is her memorial sonnet for John Henry Newman, who 'Chose love not in the shallows, but the deep'. 🏳️‍🌈

Okay, we have a winner for tonight's viewing. I quoted this film in my high school yearbook, and literally no one knew what I was on about. So I had to move. Thank you all for the brilliant suggestions - I now have a longlist which will take me through to Dec. Next up will be 'Local Hero'.

Best chair I ever saw had one of these, which she threatened to waggle at anyone who went over time. No one went over time.

Just misread this as 'Shaving Mozart', and thought it was another sort of show entirely. I think the heat is getting to me.

Me: It's been a trying week. But surely moving on to editing the next Christina Rossetti manuscript notebook (1846-47) will cheer me up!

Working on Christina Rossetti's 'Sappho' (1846) today, am reminded of the best rhyming couplet of all time, from Cole Porter's 'Brush Up Your Shakespeare':

One must know Homer and, b’lieve me, Bo.
Sophocles, also Sappho-ho!

Just searched Christina Rossetti's Poetical Works (1904) for 'dead bride'. These are the results (in blue), in case you wondered how my day is going. 💀

Me: Gee, it's been a lot this week, what with the rise of fascism, the University sector in crisis, etc. I know what will life my spirits: poetry!

Christina Rossetti: Not so fast.
