Again, you are comparing movements that literally immerse the person in it. They cut them off literally, they have them engage in teachings, attend classes with the group etc. If you cant see the difference between that and maga this is a dishonest conversation so you can just "win". All the best.

Maga isn't true cult. It's a personality cult. Your example are system that are little built to outlast a person, they have dozens of ways that keep people involved once the personality draws them in. Maga doesn't have that. At the bottom level it's just a gross love of trump.

That has not been borne out throughout the history of the figureheads dying. Once they aren't there to motivate the loyal, those leave. Unless the replacement is equally "moving"? Their is a not small faction of the base that is beholden to trump and trump alone. It will be a huge blow that he isn't there to be the figurehead of the operation. Trump dying isnt the ballgame so to speak but it is their starting QB coming out of the game

I think sadly we are at the point of needing the most fallout as widely as possible to have any hope of broad support to stop this insanity. A shutdown will impact millions of people in awful ways and it'll be laid at Trump's feet. It's a nightmare choice for certain.
