I think it's 50/50 either way and Carol has the more obvious motivation but the Spamton NEO flavour text makes me lean towards Dess. "It pulls the strings and makes them ring," in hindsight, that's clearly talking about a guitar. Also Black Knife referencing Burn in Despair! (an Asriel theme)

dont mean this as contradicting you but this is like the exact opposite of my experience. i see ralsei left out of art of the other characters so often its started to really stick out to me and kind of rub me the wrong way
