Former deputy, but just a Beagle now.
The problem is that you can't expect Russia to make the obvious rational decision here. Putin truly is delusional enough to think he can take Baltics with US out of the way.

While Europe will win such a war should it come, the human and material cost for EUs eastern states will be tremendous.

Internet as "Marketplace of Ideas" died at the very least by the mid 2010s (if it ever existed at all) and has been replaced by echo chambers with cult mentalities that actively reject rational thought. Sufficed to say, all of this has been extremely damaging to liberal democracies.

To influence future politics. Only platform moderate opposition has been able to build their voter base on is "at least I'm not the other guy" with no solid plan whatsoever to fix the mess the orange bastard leaves behind.

I'm not looking forward to this TBF. It takes an economic collapse for half the country to finally notice that they have voted in a moron. After that there really is no telling how bad things will go. A radicalised right (and increasingly also a radicalized left) will still be around for a long time

Asuming Trump causes a brain drain, it's still important to ensure Europe can provide attractive employment opportunities for scientists or they'll all move next over to China.

Before that I'm sure the driver is going to get some mad street cred though when the next mobik passing by ends up as hood decoration.

Finland has 41 M270s so the rocket artillery is already covered here. It's just too bad we botched the ATACMS deal that was the whole point of bying those systems back in 2007. Existing JASSMs and the upcoming JASSM-ERs should help alliviate that though.

But of course they are proud of this moment when they're talking about it in their language.

That and the rest of Europe should use this chance to start aquiring similar long range strike capability.

According to my zoomer gf they still do. In particular they focus on warning about not eating Cortinarius and Destroying angel by accident since they can be easily mistaken for non-poisonous mushrooms.

Also almost every one of them I've visited has been moldy and poorly maintained, so there's definetly a lot of maintenance that needs to be done before they're put to serious use.

They are indeed mandatory to all buildings bigger than 1 200 m² in Finland, However after the 50's, most of them were designed primarily to counter radiological threats at the expense of blast and shrapnel protection.
