"Caught between the twisted stars the plotted lines the faulty map that brought Columbus to New York" (Lou Reed)
Caroline Keating - Silver Heart (2012)

For fans of Regina Spektor. I'm one of them, and Caroline Keating obviously is too. The album is good, but unfortunately her voice and singing style sound too much like our idol's.

Sam Lee - Ground Of Its Own (2012)

Traditional British folk music. As far as I know, Sam Lee is to British music what Ry Cooder is to American music. He explores the musical roots and preserves them through slightly modern interpretations.

Keston Cobblers' Club - One, For Words (2012)

Does anybody know this band? I saw them live when the record came out, but haven't followed their career since then. They make a kind of traditional folk music with pop melodies and use a variety of instruments.

Thank you, Richard. My #5debutalbums8084 are:

1) Aztec Camera - High Land, Hard Rain
2) Killing Joke - Killing Joke
3) Marillion - Script For A Jester's Tear
4) Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz
5) Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Texas Flood

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (1983)

Blues was out of fashion back then. With this brilliant album and thanks to the support of David Bowie, who saw him at a festival in 1982 and then asked him to play lead guitar on Let's Dance, Vaughan initiated a blues rock revival.

Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard Of Ozz (1980)

"Blizzard of Ozz was a masterpiece of neo-classical metal that, along with Van Halen's first album, became a cornerstone of '80s metal guitar." (Steve Huey, AllMusic)

Marillion - Script For A Jester's Tear (1983)

An essential neo-prog album, which is often compared to the early Genesis albums. I like it a lot and will probably choose it.

Aztec Camera - High Land, Hard Rain (1983)

I'm not sure yet which albums will make it into my top 5 tomorrow. This album will certainly be one of them. It must have a deeper quality, because I like it more with every listen.

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Rattlesnakes (1984)

I've discovered many great albums through the 5 albums polls. This is definitely one of the best.

Killing Joke - Killing Joke (1980)

A post-punk masterpiece and a strong contender for a place in my top 5. A truly innovative album that combines cold industrial synthesizer sounds with familiar-sounding hard rock guitar riffs.

Headpins - Turn It Load (1982)

Canadian hard rock. The melodies are catchy, but fortunately the music is harder and edgier than that of their hair metal contemporaries from the US West Coast.

Everyhing But The Girl - Eden (1984)

My favourite EBTG album. Sophisticated pop with jangle guitars, rooted in jazz and fortunately (at least for me) the sound is less modern than on the following albums.
