Honestly I never really got too far into this latest version of the story but I figured I'd show the scariest bit of magic used in what I've got written - which is a massive tsunami that has been used as an act of aggression from one empire on to another.

Wasting only affects Demigods, and they tend to be more physically sickly and weak from high magic use, and show signs like bleeding and sores.
Because it takes so much skill to control magic effectively, collateral damage is usually the biggest consequence of over/misuse.

Gods, Demigods and Para all use Devices to help focus their magic. It's not necessary or needed, but it just helps to siphon the magic through a single point. It's the equivalent of being able to eat salad with a fork instead of a spoon. Is it doable with a spoon? Sure. BUT.
