148 clinical trials have been impacted, with 138k patients due to be enrolled or already enrolled.

Once research stops, some won't pick up where they left off. Even when terminated funding was reinstated, things do not go back to normal.

There is so much waste happening.

This "deal" feels like a threat. It is First Amendment violation.

Trump aims to circumvent the legislative & judicial branches by presenting this as a deal w/ schools. Nothing in the Constitution or federal law authorizes the president to do this unilaterally.

Federal funding to universities is appropriated by Congress. Trump asks them to sign an "agreement" to get preference for future funding. This is exerting control over higher ed.
