i don't blame you, I actually was gonna do the same thing till i found out about one pace. cutting the run time by like...45% and making the pacing way faster made me go "ooooo wait that sounds hype"

which in my defense it def does seem to intentionally try and wear the clothes of a fun goofy mindless shonen, at least, and i mean it's not *not* silly but yea

anyways turns out one of the most hyped shows ever is good, who could've thought

also love that even in the early arcs the crew doesn't just like, win by accident, theyre silly and goofy but they don't trip their way into defeating their foes and are actually just bumbling fool. I def had the wrong interpretation of the series, i thought it was just a fun, goofy, mindless shonen

i love how confident without being cocky he is, how his goal of being kind of the pirates isnt really conceited and more "it's what I want, and I believe in my own drive enough to know I'll do it or die trying and either way is good enough for me" kind vibe

it's good so far tho, even tho it's still in the "setup the world" phase which I usually do find less entertaining than when stories get fully going, but for all the hype Luffy really is a great protagonist
