Principia is an #opensource physics-based sandbox building #game featuring #electronics, #circuitry, #robotics, miniature robots, #puzzles, #Lua scripting and more.

Starting its life as a commercial game by Bithack, it has now been released as #FOSS to be developed by the community.

I have submitted a proposal for a Principia stand at #FOSDEM 2026. Will be interesting to see if it is accepted when the stands will be announced on the 16th of November later this year.

Earlier this year I had to move the Principia infrastructure to a new server. Now after some months with the dust settling, the new server running for a while and the old server been decommissioned, it's a good reminder that you can donate:

Recently nomad on the Principia community site uploaded a level featuring what is claimed to be a turing complete computer. It certainly looks impressive, featuring an ALU and other components built with Principia's circuitry system.

A recreation of the classic Hill Climb Racing mobile game for Principia by leoboone. Drive a 4x4 diesel truck over a hilly track with lots of bumps. Fuel is limited, and flipping over the car and breaking the dummy's neck is game over.

Tetsu was well known for their detailed and high quality vehicle levels on the old Principia community site. This level features a detailed motorbike which you can drive and do tricks in a ramp track.

A running wheel named BRAD, by Jerm_S, using linear motors to shift the balance, can run both to the left and to the right as well as being able to jump. Do not get any funny ideas about its appearance.

STRONG CLIMBER by TechZ features a grasshopper-looking climber which is able to climb upwards by grabbing onto platforms above it. This level was the winner of the Vertical Climbing Principia building contest back in the day.

Last year I hosted the first Principia building contest after the game's open source release.

Now we'll be having another building contest next week. The idea will be simple: Two weeks, one theme, build the best thing you can possibly think of in Principia.

I do admit I am quite used to Mastodon where posts get traction because of the local feed which then extends to the federated feed, but am unsure how things work on Bluesky.
