I'll give my students this much, they did say it would make money from something akin to a subscription service, but once we did the math on the cost of operations, that simply fell through.

So yeah, it's basically underpants gnomes business plan.

Slightly off-topic, but I asked my students how the AI industry is supposed to make a profit while also paying for its massive multi-billion dollar debts.

The fact they couldn't even point to a clear pathway of profit for this industry told me everything I needed to know.

Fascinated by the furry artists who draw a "clothed" and "nude" version of their art, but the nude version is always censored and they don't advertise a patreon, discord, telegram, etc.

Honestly, maybe.

The NFT thing kinda reminded a lot of people of what tech scams looked like, and the AI thing had (and still has) all the makings of an NFT 2.0.

Just nothing but wild promises and no explanation of profitability, usefulness, or even transparency on training data.
