Yeah, we used it in Barkeep on the Borderlands ( @mindstorm.bsky.social wrote 4 d6 tables of extra sidetracks for each of the 4 boroughs for use when there was a repeated roll). Pretty useful for a very random encounter heavy book, although most the common results are written with repetition in mind

That’s 12 entries but less repetition than a d12 table with the same number of entries.

But also I like bell curve tables where the most common results are the ones I’m most okay with repeating

You can also reduce repeats even with a small table with an overflow table. So for instance, the basic table is 1d6 and if you roll a repeat encounter there is a 1d6 overflow table and you roll (or use the
result from the original roll) on it instead for the encounter.
