And here is my impression: Originally the reason why they didn't make legacy gameplay loops and assets dependent on Odyssey was to let the base game owners - who didn't buy Odyssey - coexist with the EDO players on the 4.0 fork. But then financials plummeted which slowed the game's development.

And Odyssey, similarly to Horizons-Beyond which was not simply an SRV update, is not only FPS. Its on-foot activities should be enhanced but Odyssey is also the new planets, new gameplay loops new engine update, graphics. Every single new update since 2021 is based on Odyssey's tech and framework.

They got it for 90% off and they are review bombing it for the cessation of console support, for being an expansion, for selling new ships for arx, for not having VR, for not having ship interiors, for not understanding gameplay and lying throught heir teeth. No they are not fair and accurate.

On another note about player goodwill: Look at Odyssey's ratings on Steam. The devs have been supplying the game with free updates, ships on full release, rewards, paintjobs and assets for half a decade, sell he game for 75% or 90% off yet people are still review bombing EDO with crazy complaints.

Sorry I stand corrected regarding instant first deployments. I really don't support the shortcuts with instant first building. Even though I get somebody who buys it, wants to see it. But treat it as a proper DLC (minigame) (asset).

Oh yeah... Eh. I really don't support that... Let the higher paying customers buy the DLC asset, but then make them build it up. This is exactly my main concern with the new station: DLC for money might be fine but don't avoid the gameplay with shortcuts!

It seems to me they are cutting out the middleman (Steam's 30% cut, Epic's 12% cut) and are experimenting selling a simple DLC straight from he vendor. Do I think it worths 50k Arx. No. is it P2W? no, bc you will need to haul even more for it. Could Odyssey DLC called P2W with this very logic?

That doesn't really bother me if the stats are not overblown (after all I can balance Dodo's good stats out with two of my facilities if it were a competition), but higher-end T-3 will probably mean even more hauling than the Ocelus or Orbis. For that work why wouldn't you have a bit better stat?

Basically you buy a tech broker for 50k Arx. Installing tech brokers should be part of gameplay not monetization. However this is an unlock I predict that on the longer run sales will drop and I bet Fdev knows this. This must be an experiment for them. 2/2

I know I won't unlock it but I am fine letting high paying customers have unique stuff, the Dodo is basically just a different skin (like FC class-variants) with a slight stat change, the real concern is the station feature - tech broker - being monetized. 1/2

I am saying this as a person who left a considerable amount of money at Fdev already. I do find the paywall for a new type of station concerning, but as I said - I think people who are willing to pay for it will get it out of novel curiosity, then its sales will plummet next year. 3/3

(tech brokers) which deserves gamification. I say let Fdev push and find the boundaries, let the publishing side experiment with the monetization so they can ascertain what works and what doesn't work. I am kinda optimistic, I simply think Dodo for arx has no long time future, you will see. 2/3

I am fine if the devs cater to different tier paying costumers, ED doesn't need to be designed solely for those who bought the game 90% off and get every update for free ever since and wait for ships to come out of EA. But I am still concerned about the monetization of a gameplay feature... 1/3

Many other combat-heavy ships have off-center pilot chairs (Python mkI,- mkII, Cobra Mk3, Cutter) the FDL's problem are those struts on the canopy. With a lit light source behind you, the strut in front of you can even glare up - I find it really annoying, I don't even fly the ship.

I recently learned a trick how to open up landing pads on space outposts when NPCs are docked there: Select the NPC which is hugging the landing pad / hangar then request docking from the station. They will instantly kick the NPC out and you will be able to dock after it leaves.

I have even more nitpicks, like no supporting geo at LOD 0 for these huge normal map decals, Inside cockpit right above you details are low-quality on low res textures, which are uneven on the different assets. So I think their pipeline is working best for medium and small ships but not large ones.

Maybe they are just reusing the asset - could be a Faulcon deLacy too. Btw I don't think they have the resources for developing more than one large ship / year. They need lots of surface details and frankly the Panther has lots of
problems with its geometry already. The lack of resources show
