The Guardian calls some of his speeches “baffling” and “weirder than ever.”

Cambridge analysis says that his statements often require “translation” or annotation to make sense.

One of the most prominent 18th-century Buckinghamshire characters was John Wilkes, MP for Aylesbury from 1757 to 1764. He also hero-worshipped another famous Buckinghamshire MP, John Hampden.
This October sees Wilkes's 300th anniversary.
