If you go off of the Blender OpenData scores a 3090 hits a median of 5.4k and a 5090 hits just under 15k. If you only get a 20% performance hit then you would still be looking at 12k.
My guess is you'll be getting more like 33% less performance. Does your desktop mobo support full Thunderbolt 5?
