It would have been better if I’d called him Old Frank, but 🤷‍♂️

Will do! (Had my ears bent back on this subject many years ago by my then-colleague and dear friend, Mike Radford)

Frank’s incensed and…

Meh 🤷‍♂️

Disgusting racism. And shame on Sky News for not calling him out on it.

Playing the trombone while blowing your own trumpet has the makings of an excellent circus act (which would be appropriate, given the clown-show that is UKHE)

Alternatively, you could follow the well-worn academic tradition of blowing your own trumpet.

Please don’t put words in my mouth. It’s not a fine way to behave - it’s shabby, and callous - but it won’t ruin his life, and I doubt it will discourage people from seeking what are very highly paid positions, with the knowledge that those who fail, very often fail upwards.

Important work. Keep ‘em coming!

People discover they are to lose their jobs by hearing of it over their cornflakes every day. They may not be personally named in the press, but neither do they get a £250k pay-off and the inevitable peerage.

But people are, every day, and most don’t land on their feet like he will.

Is that the Law Society or the Ritz Hotel?

Just asking.

I love this from him.

I like this suggestion, provided recipients are required to stick the gold stars on their foreheads for the rest of the semester.

Well played!

The first house we owned - a lovely C15th cottage in South Norfolk - was disgracefully demolished by Tesco 20+ years ago to make way for a supermarket car park. I still mourn it, and take great care to avoid driving past there, because it would be too painful to see it gone 😢

They should be bollocked for that
