Gadsden himself was also one of South Carolina's largest enslavers and slave traders. He was also one of the earliest to call for independence from Britain, but he didn't want independence from all government as those who wave his flag seem to think.

Here's an example of a report from the commission that Gadsden was a part of from 1760. The law required that Gadsden’s committee report all smallpox cases, quarantine them, and keep the public updated on their condition. Gadsden was opposed to arbitrary, lawless government not all government.

Can’t argue there, but the 2006 Bears were really fun. I had Lovie Smith’s son in my class at Northwestern that semester. He asked for extension on a paper, because he was going to the Super Bowl. But just before the game started, he emailed me his paper on time anyway.
