What I mean by 'ignore' is probably like searching for new headphones. You want to have an idea of what is nice, so for myself, I'd watch a DankPods video or something. But I'm not a professional musician or audiophile. I don't need to go all in on forums on the specifics unless I need help.

My advice, just get Mint. But make sure you check if you can keep similar apps on there and generally ignore the Linux community except for advice and/or troubleshooting.

Linux Mint is nice, but I have been testing out Fedora KDE Plasma and I love it as a desktop environment.

I'm leaning to installing that for now (I've got Ventoy and some other distros though just in case).

I will say that the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is outstanding.

That might help in spurring on the interest in Austen (and other fiction) more. It's also very close to the novel.
