The Henry Moore Sculpture Centre
A sculpture made of white wood. It is a picnic table, but large branches of wood protrude from it at many angles, all carved from the same pieces of wood that make up the table itself.

One of my favourite pieces of Toronto art. Cool seeing what that view was like in 1972, without a lot of Toronto’s current tallness. And a viaduct without the Veil.

William Kurelek - Don Valley on a Grey Day (1972)
A painting, looking over the Don Valley from the prince edward viaduct, in Toronto. You can see the DVP, the river, and a few buildings poking out from the trees on the other side of the valley. On the right you can see some people standing on the bridge. A man holds a child, lifting him up so the child can peek down over the ledge.

The centre of this space- Light Years: The Paul Lind Gift. Go see it when you go. Lots of weird, untraditional Canadiana kinda stuff.

Ron Terada - Entering City of Vancouver (2002)
A large, 2-3 metre tall highway sign in the middle of an art gallery. The sign says “Entering city of Vancouver” 2 spotlights attached to the top of the sign illuminate it.

Rosalie Favell - I awoke to find my spirit had returned (2018)
A painting. A recreation of a famous scene from The Wizard of oz, where Dorothy’s neighbours all come to check on her at the end of the movie, after she has returned from Oz. Except in this interpretation, instead of Dorothy, it is the artist in bed under a Hudson’s bay point blanket. One of the men pictured in the doorway is Louis Riel. There is a picture of Xena, Warrior Princess on the wall.

This painting blew my mind. Thought it was a photo. Just incredibly detailed. The clothing, the buildings, the ships. Just go to the AGO and see it with your eyeballs.

I was amazed at how many paintings of paintings there were. Love an artist flexing like that. Carlyle put one of her paintings (the last one I posted, The Tiff) in this one. Badass.

This painter is from Galt - a town I’d never been to until I got a job there a year ago. Now I’m there twice a week. I could feel the awkwardness between the two of them here, 121 years later.
