I wonder how close in time those arrivals were, that is a seismograph record I'd like to see! Anybody know where to quickly link USGS seismograph records or if they are available for download?

Yes looks like it was a false positive, however likely it was a sympathetic or "triggered" quake from the arriving energy from the Humboldt 7.0. There is another entry now shifted in time and location estimated at M2.5 in that region.

Looks like they downgraded the 5.8 to a 2.5. Constructive interference of the arriving energy from the Humboldt 7.0 affecting the preliminary analysis?

They look like iron concretions that have been eroded. They may also be iron concretions in a host matrix that has experienced soft deformation of some kind during deposition, or recently after deposition and before lithification. Hard to say if the object is epigenetic or showed up much later.
