I ended up buying some film storage boxes to help mitigate this sort of situation; I can just unload the film into the storage boxes (and label them) for later development. Of course that only works if you develop them all the same though...

Got to try one out in store today (the camera store here is fantastic btw) and it's an absolutely incredible lens. I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it

Oh yeah, I was looking at Packard shutters at some point, but they seem to be difficult to source in Europe (perhaps they were named something else here..?)

As someone who is new to barrel lenses, how were they actually used at the time they were produced? I am planning on using them with just a lens cap to control exposure on low ISO film (ISO 5), and only shooting wide open when I can darken the room and shoot with a strobe

Apparently the last time I used this was in February. Time to take it for a shoot again.

I do wish that the GFX had a tilt-shift macro without vignetting (like the Laowa does) that didn’t cost 3.5k euros(!!!!)

On second thought this seems very Not Worth It

This would let me consolidate my full frame (Sigma BF) and medium format (GFX 50S II) into a single full frame camera setup. Probably a bit nicer than being split across systems. And with an FTZ adapter I can use all my F-mount lenses on whatever Z system.

good one, I’ve never really tried tilt/swing on my view camera

btw, it’s always nice to hear insights and advice from someone like yourself who has worked in the space professionally

Yeah it’s a bit of a pain to do. I am more just experimenting with different techniques at the moment to see what sort of results I can get.

I don’t have one of the micro nikkors with tilt (yet) but I do have a tilt-shift lens for my Fuji GFX which gives me a lot more control.

I can also set up the software to bracket shots between two focus points (I believe the D3 can’t do this on-camera, only later cameras?) and then combine all the images into one with a larger depth of field than I could otherwise get.

Having AF/electronically controlled focus is handy for my use case, since I am working tethered and in a very small space where it is awkward to look through the prism. It lets me fine-tune focus through the large live view on my computer monitor instead.

Have to say I prefer mirrorless for tethering, though. Tethering with the D3 is a little clunky (literally as well). But an AF macro lens for the GFX is just too expensive for me.
