So lovely to see the night sky again. Didn’t expect auroras already! They are strong enough to see without a camera tonight 😍 #auroras #october #norway

What is it about this stuff? I get all excited whenever I get to use it

I’m dying to show you what I’m working on in Cellscape right now, but every time I say ok NOW I’ll stop and make some videos I go back and keep working on the game instead 😅

I’ll show you more soon I promise!! Here’s a pic for a sneak peek at least!

Increased bacteria spawn rate, ended up with predator swarms. Introduced a pathogen to control the predator swarms. Dying cells dissolve into a nutrient cloud which creates a feeding frenzy for bacteria.. creates total chaos and crashes the game 🤣

I’ve been working on an absolutely enormous, multi-layered painting to create a parallax background for my game. I just tested it for the first time and it works!!

Thank goodness, because this was a LOT of work to paint 😅

I didn’t realize colliders should be on the bones so they can follow along with animation movements. This poor rotifer was jumping out of its skin! 🤣

I finally understand weight painting!!! 🥹🥳🎉

In retrospect it’s pretty obvious and straightforward, but for whatever reason it just wasn’t making sense to me for the LONGEST time.

Feels SO freaking good when things suddenly click 😁😁

Finally finished painting all the soil clumps and built the border around the game scene. That was a lot of work!
Next I want to work on the camera a bit and then maybe develop the background a bit more before continuing on game mechanics. Lots to do!!

I’ve decided to use a fixed world size for my game instead of trying to make it limitless. Since the landscape is always changing, it should still feel like exploring new areas even if you're technically moving around the same space.

Working on tile art now! 🎨

Just added a new, more aggressive predator that will actively chase you, and a heliozoan that floats around minding it’s own business… just don’t touch it!

Whoops! Added a spawner to produce new flagellate npcs in response to the bacteria population but forgot to add a time interval so there was a bit of an invasion 😆

I spent a whole day making this 💩 animation.
I’m finding that I have a love-hate relationship with animating. I find it incredibly tedious and often frustrating, but at the same time it’s wildly entertaining to see my little creations come to life!

Here’s a little preview of the gameplay so far.

I’ve been working on some new bacteria types with different effects, and today I’m getting ready to add a new, more active predator to shake things up a bit.

I’ve always loved playing games, but it turns out making them is even more fun 🤩
Here’s a sneak peek of the microbe game I’m working on. My very first game dev project! I’m primarily an artist so this is all new to me but I’m having a BLAST. More details about the project to come soon!

Here’s my current work in progress, a turtle rotifer in ink on stone paper.

I love stippling and don’t get to do it enough, so this is a personal project just for fun and practice.
