Bisexual Awareness Week, also known as #BiWeek, is an annual celebration held from September 16–23. It is an extension of Celebrate Bisexuality Day. The celebration promotes cultural acceptance of the bisexual community, as well as attempts to create a platform for advocating bisexual rights.

On this day in 1990...the British action group OutRage demonstratesd outside Scotland Yard to call for an end to police entrapment and an increase in efforts to solve anti-gay murders.

OutRage! focused on lesbian and gay rights. Founded in 1990 , the organisation ran for 21 years until 2011.

On This Day...

Film Director James Whale is born in Dudley, England. He directed such classics as Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein and lived openly as gay man throughout his career, which was virtually unheard of in the 1920s and 1930s. Whale died by suicide in 1957.

International Non-Binary People’s Day is observed each year on the 14th July and aims to raise awareness of the issues faced by non-binary people around the world. This important day shines a light on those who identify as non-binary and celebrates the community’s diversity and gender identities.

June 11th marks the date when Section 28 was repealed in the UK and Wales in 2003.

Section 28 was a piece of legislation that prohibited the "promotion of homosexuality" by local authorities, particularly in schools.
