Pushed by the ECB to create a profitable secondary market for NPLs, with hedge fund investments derisked by the Greek state and a legal re-coding that gave funds credit enforcement, the financial press still “wonders” why auctioned houses end up with investors & do not solve the housing problem. 👏

Informed commentators - "No this is not actually fascism, you see, because historical fascism of the 1930s and 1940s blah blah blah blah blah"

Ive officially abandoned academia. Finally. Huge weight off my shoulders, a (temporary) sense of freedom, zero regrets. Wish me luck though.

The picture below was taken during the protests that erupted after a cop murdered Alexis Grigoropoulos back in in 2008. The state's claim to a monopoly in the use of violence is not voluntarily held back when people rise against it.

I really enjoy how some legal academic papers on the rule of law and the EU pull no punches.

(This is from Ganty & Kochenov's 2024 "EU Lawlessness Law")

Focusing on his toddler-level narcissism, her bootlicking desperation or the committees’ response somehow misses the point. Nobel prizes have lost their (already symbolic) meaning and can now be openly paraded as irrelevant. Like, say, international law.

Nerdy note but ICE is more like the SA (stormtroopers/brownshirts) than the Gestapo (secret police).
