Typically, I don't. But if I do, I don't expect it back. Don't want it to negatively impact the friendship. I did experience a friendship where we helped each other out whenever we could if there was a need. It went both ways. It seemed to be unique to a very close and long-standing friendship.

Sam Cooke had the (slightly) better vocals, but Donny Hathaway was a huge overall talent. Session pianist, vocals, you name it. One of my all time favorite musicians.

Also, financially, make a plan for the future and stick to it as much as the economy will allow. Factor into that plan a way to live NOW while setting yourself up in the future. Time is more expensive than money and there is always another dollar to be made. You can't make more time.

Looking back on my thirties I wish I would've poured more into every relationship (platonic) as that's what I'm finding most important to me now. People will come and go but those people that are present when things are both good AND bad are the ones that deserve your time and energy.

You had to be there. It didn't age well but for some of us, seeing a black rockstar on screen meant more than we understood at that time.
