Likes: GIS, geology, needlework, reading, the outdoors, video games, dairy products, and, most importantly, my husband and my dog.

Dislikes: lactose, humidity, static electricity, and joins.
I'm currently in Washington state doing #GIS on a wildfire. It's been a pretty good assignment, but we're on day 9 (plus two travel days) and my introvert is feeling pretty burnt out. There is little alone time in fire camp.

11. Reading on my balcony with my dog.
12. Tomato-basil bean stew (with tofu) is so good. We make it all the time.
13. Checking on my dog when he's sick.
14. A husband who wants to work on our communication patterns and grow together.

7. A spell of cooler weather so that the air no longer feels like it's attacking me ☮️
8. A quiet morning on my balcony with my dog and some YouTube drawing lessons.
9. This amazing strawberry-pecan salad
10. Toast and warm brie. It's not aesthetic but it is delicious.

4. A chill weekend morning, starring a pineapple fritter from the local donut shop.
5. A hurt ankle/foot which gives me guaranteed stitching time each day.
6. Homemade chicken gyros, with a cookie left over from another excellent book club meeting.

1. A little downtime at work has enabled me to refresh my AGOL dashboard skills.
2. Making fun of my weird dog for roasting himself in the sun during a heatwave, despite being provided shade and swimming pools.
3. Finding the perfect dog treat for family pizza night.

Woke up with the beginnings of a migraine at 3:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep, but the upside is that I was able to get my dog to the dog park before anyone else was here. 🎉 🎉 (We avoid dog parks when others are present.)

So on that note, here are the recent good things!

I also quickly swung by Aztec Ruins Natl. Monument on a lunch break. Despite being in a rush, I was struck by the peacefulness of the restored kiva and the artistry of the masonry. This area alao has lots of preserved textiles, and that was really interesting to learn about.

My fire assignment ended up being unusually short, but I managed to find some great stuff:

1. Amazing el pastor tacos to wake up after a long flight
2. A dog getting take-out
3. The Animas river
4. A breakfast burrito so spicy that I cried, which is precisely what I want to experience in NM. 🌶️😋

Leaving for a wildfire like:
1. Packing the night before, and all the luggage needed for 14 days of camping and GIS
2. 3:00 am puppy goodbye
3. Leaving my husband something to remember me by (mac & cheese is my weakness)
4. Missing home already

I really have no words to describe how excited I am about this purse.

I'm telling myself that I got it as a reward for passing the GISP exam, but I think we all know that's an excuse. 😂

My favorite thing about Arcade is knowing a programming language that my software-engineer-husband doesn't.

But the topic of wildfire GIS is really on my mind tonight because my supervisor gave me approval to change my status to Available. Once I go Available, I could be boarding a plane within 24 hours, so I am digging out my giant suitcase and making my preparations.

And a few i missed:
21. Capturing this great dragonfly.
22. An early morning hardware store run, complete with iced coffee.
23. A weekend stitching, reading, and playing video games.
July 7, 2025 at 3:29 AM
19. A nice evening dog walk downtown.
20. Catching the sunset at the overlook.
July 7, 2025 at 3:26 AM
16. Spotting my favorite flock at the park feels like old friends.
17. Finally caving and getting the comfy reading patio chair I've been eyeing for several years.
18. I really enjoy reading in cafes, so sometimes I get a nice pastry and sirens a morning pretending that my house is a cafe. 😅

12. Finally figuring out the correct set of meds to knock my dog out through the fireworks. 🙌
13. Finding a beer pocket in my new apron.
14. Turning out a nice 4th of July spread.
15. Deep cleaning my grill on the 5th. It was a hot and sweaty job, but it's nice to have a clean and safe grill.

11. An early, early morning trip to a Sniffspot. (It's a fenced yard that you rent for a few hours.) It's always delightful to watch my dog get to be a dog, even though he mostly just wanders and vibes at this time of year.
July 7, 2025 at 2:59 AM
10. Watching some bird drama unfold. I believe the bird house (and the eggs within) belong to the bluebird, and the other bird is an interloper.
July 7, 2025 at 2:54 AM
7. Passing my #GISP exam! I still need to make my portfolio and get it approved before I get the actual certification, but it's nice to have the hard part over.
8. Getting Mediterranean takeout to celebrate.
9. My dog, who desperately wanted to try some soulvaki.
July 7, 2025 at 2:48 AM
4. My husband getting me cupcakes when I had a migraine.
5. My dog peeking out of his favorite hiding spot.
6. My husband got me this cheap tablet a few months ago because Fox kept making me too angry to workout. Now I can happily finish my workouts and catch up on my favorite shows.

Some things making me happy this past week:
1. These pretty flowers on an evening dog walk.
2. I bought myself flowers and they're making me happy every time I see them.
3. Repurposing lights from my wedding. It's goofy as heck, but it makes my eyes feel so much better than the office florescents.

11. Getting froyo partway are a particularly long and hot morning of walking.
12. Packing a tomato sandwich picnic - another new southern food for me - and going to a local community concert was a nice way to the the weekend.
June 30, 2025 at 2:57 AM
10. A good weekend walking around the local campus for #PokemonGoFest. It's not the most complex game, but it's a nice excuse to get outside, see some friends, and get some exercise. It's very hot and humid in Mississippi right now, but being outside still helped my mood improve dramatically.

7. We switched and now I walk my dog in the morning. It's been rough - I'm not a morning person - but it's going much smoother which is nice.
8. A bee's knees cocktail with a ginger beer float.
9. Fancy little brunch starring tomato pie. Is a southern staple I still hadn't tried, and it was good!

6. Visiting the bougie-but-delightful local grocery store during lunch on a particularly hard day. I only go as a treat, and it always cheers me up. Summer tomatoes, excellent orzo salad, and a cookie made my day better. I also browsed the antique store next door and found a great tray.
