Residing in Mérida (Spain). Proud father of two. Here I just come to talk and hear bout anything wargame related. Always in the look for PBEM buddies. https://boardgamegeek.com/user/ps1971mer
In a time where many fellow wargamers feel we should just stick to talking bout our hobby, your example shows that's just not good enough. Thanks for doing this

That's a good comparison, in that u need to b familiar with cards. In JADO u don't have cards bt each plane has (imprinted) loads how easily and far detect & r detected, strength in close combat, missiles, electric defense, etc. Mechanics r not diff bt u need 2 know what ur counters r & ren't good 4

Same here. So that's why I didn't feel this as highly in complexity as others. I can understand how different mechanics and Chinese rulebooks can be understood as complex though! Increasing popularity means a lot of ppl r devoting gr8 effort at producing tutorials and translations, however

Just read the entry. I have to disagree with the assessment bout complexity. I'd never played the game before and yes we were mentored through the game but I felt I knew what I "was doing" (mechanically not tactically optimised) fairly quickly & sequence of battle may seem complex by its really fast

It's really an insurgent guerrilla war, so it has that kind of COIN flavour 2 it, by with blocks (fog of war) & point 2 point map, sieges, small confrontations, larger but uncertain and bloody battles, supply management but all in a package that is very manageable rules-wise.

Very fast combat and given u need 2 detect 2 hit, & the capacity 2 react 2 what once detect (if planes available with reach). Missile ammunition is limited & planes used r immobilised for some turns after used, so capacities management & forcing the other 2 spend them b4 u strike is key

Yes. In Spain there's now a growing critical mass of players buying directly from China this system but also The Coming Wave. JADO is a grand tactical, I would recommend stick to only the aeronaval modules. V interesting & diff ways of doing things. No tables, all it's in the counters.

Task Force Carrier. Loved it. Very easy but with fog of war becomes a cat and mouse game where the need to manage your hangar well is the difference between success and defeat. That you can play in a couple of hours makes it great for when u don't have time for Pacific War

Una Guerra Imposible. One that also deserves CSR nominations. Tense, nail biting, asymmetric, very thematic, not complicated mechanics but requiring careful consideration of moves and a clear strategy that recognises your strength and weaknesses as either of the two sides. A fantastic game

JADO. What a discovery. I know its only January but strong contender for game of the year for me. How this system hasn't yet won best modern war CSR awards just show strong ethnocentric bias.

Modern Tactics Afghanistan. Easy to learn, fluid, gr8 for just an afternoon, more a game than simulation & results a bit too influenced by luck dice by I had fun & will continue exploring
