Right!? Corporate greed at it's finest. I definitely don't want to be just another voice complaining into the void. But I really want to be part of active conversations to flip this script, it's definitely fuelling my fire. That goood games development can happen without AI.

Yes! They did use AI for the voices, and both teams benefit from each other work. Frustrating and just disheartening to see.

Pretty much the status quo for me also! And it's just not even worth the investment. Thankfully, there are still game developers and publishers out there doing good things.

Have I stopped playing? Immediately! Uninstalled with a refund to steam pending. Transparency is important to me.

While ARC Raiders has boasted some technical prowess.
I can't in good conscience support a studio profiting from through AI development that causes wider harm to the games industry.

I would argue they did a lot of things right. But choosing to use AI to with the excuse of "faster iteration" just doesn't cut it. VO's can take minutes to second to record or re-record, depending on talent. I'd know, I do it for a living.

Did I play ARC Raiders? Yes I have 70hrs worth to be exact. My choice to distance myself from the franchise isn't because @arcraiders.bsky.social DEV is entirely bad.
