I'm quite bearish on any monopolistic figure being long-term hospitable to capital-A Art! But indie gaming has seemed to flourish (until the whole paypro thing) and animation is currently mapping a sustainable (????) path to indie funding, so maybe comics will find its way

Anyway I HOPE people aren't calling you some kind of sellout! Frankly whatever scrutiny WT gets should be being given even harder to bigger publishers, esp. where the creator has to do their own marketing

Mm, it's that WT/WT-likes also lured in hobbyists, then put them at the app's mercy, then gave audiences the impression that the app is a one-stop shop. I Love that they're willing to pay for a few, but I resent that they built that on the back of a scrappy, weird community and domesticated it.

I've taken to messaging sellers "can you tell me which of your products were designed by a human because some of these are really obvious"-- it doesn't help but I do feel better wasting their time
