Happy birthday Sparty. Was roaming wilderness of Capitol Reef dodging flash floods for the past 2 weeks. Please forgive the my latency.

Would doubt if it's the flagship.

Term "something" in the table must be quite a colorful list of products and services.

Agreed. I think U.S. spent 15 years aiming tech in the wrong direction. Transition should be fun. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAEA...

I think incentives have been atrocious for a while, and they are toying around with how hard they can push - all legal. But people don't keep pitchforks here no more. Like you I throw it in the shit I can't change bucket and just try to notice & act first.

Don't agree with actions but I think we might have to adjust to a more mark-to-market vs mark-to-model justice system in the future.

Haha. Must be. Tape was the first too. 100GGb Blu Ray (100 years) is what I use at home for critical stuff. I don't have that much though. LTO-6 (2.5T) drive can be had < 1K. If your data is compressible ~double that.

Tabletop/portable unit with a pcie hba in a PC probably the most practical. Drives are pricey though. But life works/memories etc... Hear of home use people buying and reselling since used so infrequently.

Just watch out. Leaving SSD unpowered is what will hose you. Sometimes just months. LTO-9 and chill would be my goto.
May 13, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Careful letting those SSD drives sit around too long. Spinners in cool dry place for good insurance.

Thanks. I remember well from the lost sparchives. Just curious on mechanics making it work under the hood

Any theory of a property of the market or fundamental trigger you've settled on for this or is it just the way it goes?

From dust to dust.
