I like them. Like a little touch of vignette they make an image look clean and intentional. But that's from an ex Instagrammer where feeds look pretty scruffy without them!

For me, I'd save on the amp and splurge on the guitar. A nicer feeling instrument makes me want to pick it up and play more/longer. Knowing your guitar well surely leads to better tone...
