And yes, before the "Not All Americans" people chime in - I am aware plenty of Americans support Ukraine and wish the government would too.

It's often said that the US is always late to wars, but this might be the first one where they started off strong and then just gave up for no other reason than selfishness.

It's not so "more people can enjoy it" it was done to boost shopping by adding more evening daylight hours. The circadian disruption has massive negative health effects and has been linked to depression and strokes.
February 11, 2026 at 10:36 PM
No, that's literally what DST was invented & retained for - to boost shopping by adding more daylight hours in the evening. It's unnatural and has been proven to mess up our circadian rhythms, which has detrimental health effects.
February 11, 2026 at 10:35 PM
I understand the impulse for this, but this would be incredibly messy and impractical in practice.

Yes. Very clearly. This is not a post meant in good natured jesting at all. This is deadly serious, life or death, just the way you have taken it.
February 11, 2026 at 7:51 PM
It's a post in jest. Lighten up, for heaven's sake.
February 11, 2026 at 7:51 PM
Lighten up and learn to laugh at yourself.
February 11, 2026 at 7:50 PM
Be normal then.
February 11, 2026 at 5:31 PM
@kristadb1.bsky.social - Found some food post weirdos for your block list!
February 11, 2026 at 5:30 PM
Such a normal response to a light hearted post. Go touch grass.
February 11, 2026 at 5:21 PM
Jesus Christ. Try and be normal about a light hearted food post. Go roll in the grass you weirdo.
February 11, 2026 at 5:20 PM
I love that the very normal American food poasters found this and are responding to a light hearted post in very normal ways, like "yeah well you Bri'ish are all racists".

Christ you're all so performatively touchy. Go outside and roll in the fucking grass you weirdos.
February 11, 2026 at 5:18 PM
Americans respond to a light-hearted food post like a normal person challenge. Difficulty level: impossible.

Christ you're all so touchy.

Could likely be a combination of both! A warrior culture like the Klingons have is inherently hyper-masculine, which sees any other profession as lesser, so I always figured there was an element of compensating there, to be seen as a "warrior" just as much as those who fight with disruptors.
February 11, 2026 at 3:30 AM
Their only understanding of art is on a superficial level of aesthetics, so all their artistic efforts are fundamentally soulless.
February 11, 2026 at 3:24 AM
What's funny is that DS9 contains many scenes that make it explicit the Klingon culture isn't static. Jadzia's discussion with Bashir & O'Brien, correcting the stereotype that Klingons are like ancient sea pirates was basically breaking the fourth wall to the fans who thought the same thing.
February 11, 2026 at 3:21 AM
I always thought that, since the warrior caste would have been severely bloodied in the Klingon's recent wars, that other castes in Klingon society would gain prominence, leading to a cultural revolution of sorts. The Martok Era would be something like Meiji Restoration-era Japan.

What's interesting about that is that said lawyer tries to couch his profession in the language of warriors. It's not a "courtroom" it's a "battlefield." It's not a "legal debate" it's the "thrill of the fight." It's a nice hint that the warrior culture is so pervasive others have to overcompensate.

Hell, we don't even need to look at mythical heroes; the Sacred Band of Thebes is a great real-life example of same-sex male lovers.
February 11, 2026 at 3:13 AM
Oh piss off, you tiresome prick.
February 11, 2026 at 3:10 AM
Thanks for explaining what English chips are to an Englishman. I would define them as "not this" considering these are flat discs. These are basically chunky crisps or slightly thick potato slices.
