I've been super quiet, even for me, but my sister and BIL were in a very serious car wreck, and this is the first time I've been able to take a breath. If you are so inclined, anything would help their long road to recovery. www.gofundme.com/f/help-suppo...

Fought the urge to go off on a post sticking up for the League today. At first I thought it was a bot, but upon closer inspection...a wyte woman from SC. I can't understand how anyone can think like that, especially a woman, but I guess generations of willful ignorance will do that for you. #WNBA

With classes underway, I’ve switched from essays to exams. But with the death of the student essay (RIP, slain by ChatGPT), there’s a larger human tragedy: an erosion of critical cognition and the creation of two sharply divided classes of people: those who learn how to think and those who don’t:
The Death of the Student Essay—and the Future of Cognition
One professor's reflections on the end of an era, as AI tools such as ChatGPT have murdered the student essay (RIP). Here's why that threatens the future of human cognition—and how to save ourselves.

Hundreds of generals and admirals had to fly in from all over the world so Pete Kegseth can live out his Patton fantasies.

The flew the entire military leadership in so they could see for themselves that the Secretary of Defense is a mouthbreathing dipshit and the Commander in Chief is a senile, weak old man who might keel over at any moment.

I don't have trouble with adhesives, but I do have trouble with silicone or any similar plastics. Found out during the "SwatchWatch" trend, when the watch my grandmother got me for Xmas gave me a blistering rash after a day of wearing it.

Finished all 656 pages in under a week. Damn thing even get me teary-eyed for like 3 or 4 chapters. I highly recommend, but will warn there is a LOT of adult content.

Only reason I stopped reading tonight was because of the protests from my eyes. It gets better with every page. I haven't enjoyed fiction this much since the Kitty Norville series. @carrievaughnco.bsky.social

Stumbled upon an Instagram account recently & fell in love w/ the creator's "voice." I was delighted to discover a book behind it all. This is NOT my usual reading fare, but I have to set alarms to keep from READING ALL THE WORDS NOW! Check out @sea-ya-later.bsky.social 's For Whom The Belle Tolls.

The Third Reich didn't last 1,000 years.

Pinochet was ousted with a referendum.

And the US isn't exactly dealing with the smartest, most competent fascists.

Those of you insisting that 2025 is forever need to read a book, touch grass, go to therapy, anything other than trying to make others quit.

Not sure that karma is working fast enough right now, but at least it's still working.

Enjoying some rare late afternoon sun today. Only a few more weeks to keep the pool open, before I get tired of fighting the leaves.

I have awesome friends who think about me even thousands of miles away. My favorite con-roomie got me an awesome haul from Japan, and then sent it to me.

Yesterday this was a whole box of fresh tomatoes, straight from the farm. Today it will simmer down into a wonderful base for my sauce that I can tuck away into the freezer for use later. I have another batch coming in from my contractor later this month.

Monday my youngest niece had brain surgery to correct Chiari Malformation (causing pain, migraines, vertigo, balance & vision issues). Surgery went well, & she's recovering at Children's. She was still playing elite softball, & heavily recruited (BA .469, SLP .764). Imagine if she was 100%

From AP

If ICE’s goal was to turn everybody (and I mean absolutely everybody) against them, then they are doing an exceptional job

When local/state cops start seeing their patrol buddies and friends start getting this treatment, think they’ll keep supporting it?
