We’ve always had to fight—for the right to vote, to unionize, to be treated equally. It’s part of the American story. It’s frustrating that we still have to, but every generation has stepped up. These protesters are carrying that same torch. That’s how change has ever happened here.

I grew up in rural VA and experienced all of this. College opened my eyes to what I’d never been taught. I’ve lived in the Midwest longer now and am very liberal. You can overcome your upbringing. Don’t write people off.

It’s no coincidence that the states with the most extreme maps also push the harshest policies on abortion, education, and voting rights. Because they don’t have to fear losing power, even when the majority disagrees.

You’re not wrong. Gerrymandering’s turned Ohio into a state where a rural minority governs the majority. Statehouse locked up, policies out of step, and most voters just stuck watching it happen. It’s not democracy—it’s design.
